Everyone is always talking about New Years Resolutions. But when you go and look up the definition of resolution in Webster’s Dictionary, one of the top findings defines resolution as reduction to a simpler form; conversion. Isn’t it amazing that most people believe that setting a resolution is something that is going to sit them up for increase and change? When in fact, just like this definition, many people make promises to increase at the beginning of each year and before they can get through the 1st couple of months – THEY REDUCE THOSE AMBITIONS TO A SIMPLIER FORM. THEY CONVERT FROM THE HIGH HOPES AND LOFTY GOALS TO DEALING WITH DISHEARTENMENT AND SETTLING FOR MEDIOCRITY. So what are you going to do moving into this New Year? Are you just going to come up with another year of “wishful thinking” News Resolutions or are you ready to REALLY take your life to the next level?
If you are, then I suggest instead of creating New Year’s Resolutions, you should create a New Year’s Fortitude. Webster’s defines fortitude as mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously. It’s important you catch the last part of this sentence. Everyone is going to face difficulty in 2009. And everyone is probably going to face adversity, danger, and some type of temptation. But the difference maker is facing these things courageously. Like I always say, it’s not what happens to you that determine your success; it is how you react to what happens to you that determines your success!
Well, you might ask, how can I become courageous? The key to having courage is having confidence. Confidence is birthed by first having FAITH! Knowing that if you can see the invisible, you can do the impossible. But also, confidence comes from being armed with the right arsenal. If an army was going to fight a battle and had no armor, no weapons, and was severely outnumbered, they would have the thought of defeat in their head even before they arrived at the battlefield. They would believe it is literally impossible to defeat a much bigger, well-armed army. But if the army was readily prepared, had all the right armor, was well trained, had a superior team and good leadership, their confidence level would be unprecedented making them see the victory even before the war has started!
Moving into 2009, you have that right armor with this opportunity, this team, and this leadership! In order for your 2009 to be a success, you have to see the accomplishments even before the year begins. You have to know that this year will be the best year yet! Instead of wondering if you will make a promotion in your job this year, start thinking about the new office furniture you will be purchasing for that new office! Instead of wondering if you will be able to pay your rent or mortgage on time every month this year, start seeing yourself making plans to buy a bigger home! Instead of wondering if you'll make any REAL money in your business this year, visualize yourself going FULL TIME in your business this time next year and starting to enjoy FREEDOM! Instead of wondering if you’ll make it with your spouse to see 2010, start thanking God right now for such a WONDERFUL and prosperous relationship that your marriage has become in 2009!
You have to be thankful for what you have RIGHT NOW, while you are in pursuit of everything you want! And you have to know RIGHT NOW, that you will receive it! Remember, your beliefs BECOME your reality!!!!!
You have to make a decision right now about the future of your life. You need fortitude to make it to the next level! You need fortitude to become the New You in this New Year!
God Bless and Good Luck in your endeavors!
